April 14th, 2021

Listen

In this episode, I talk about a frequently asked question, where do I start?

I understand in the day-to-day world we are busy. You know what, if you are really busy, the best thing to do is carve out a little bit of time to work on the areas that are going to make you not as busy, not as overwhelmed.  Sounds easy right? I get it that it can be hard to stop “the doing” work and work on the improvement stuff. The best place to start is actually to start.

Introduce smart simple solutions that create time and freedom in your every day.

Hello, hello, and welcome back to take control with Nicole, I hope you are well. And having a fabulous week so far. I just wanted to spend a few moments just reflecting. So a couple of weeks ago, I was privileged enough to attend Suz chadwicks rise retreat. Now we went travelled down jumped in the car travelled down to the mornington Peninsula, arrived at his beautiful home. My goodness, the the views of the water was stunning from the room that I had, we did have a little bit of rain. But you know what, it didn’t even matter. We were connecting with all these amazing women in business, there were 13 of us on the retreat. There were beautiful business sessions where we looked at personal branding and the tips from launching a business in the property sector. We looked at leadership and we looked at marketing in general. And you know what it really is such a fabulous experience to just stop, step away and reflect, look at things in a different way. Talk to people who have been there or are going through that journey right now. provide support, provide feedback provide a different viewpoint on Have you thought about this, or you’ve got this, you need to just rip that band aid off and just go go go go go and the connections and the friendships that I’ve made on that retreat. Have with So, so beneficial, so fabulous. And I’m so so grateful that I was able to prioritize myself to say, you know what, taking a step away, code sending myself away for three nights. Like that’s a big thing when you’ve got a small family and it’s no small feat. But having this support at home that Simon was like, yep, you need this, go for it. And I can say that it was so so so worthwhile. And throwing in an 80s dance party on the Friday evening with the kickoffs collective down in mornington. There are so much fun, I love getting dressed up and having fun and dancing to some music. And you know what I found my spirit spirit friend there with, you know, Megan, we really just wrapped up that dance floor. So it was so much fun. But I really implore you to take it opportunity when you can find that space, find that time that’s just for you, then you can see it and look and reflect and investigate if you need to going through that whatever is blocking you right now, by creating that space in your world will really enable you to find that right way forward for you. So today is not about that. But I just wanted to share that with you because I just am feeling so lovely after being on that retreat. Today is actually about where do I start? It’s a conversation that I hear quite often it’s like yeah, I’m busy. I’ve got things going on. I really want to do things but I’ve just I’m too busy right now and I don’t know where to go and I don’t know how to get started and I don’t know do that adult.

I get it. I absolutely understand that people are busy. But you know what, if you’re really busy, the best thing to do is actually carve out a little bit of time in there to work on those things that are going to make you not busy, not as busy, not as overwhelmed. Not as jumping from pillar to post. Sounds easy right? But I get it that it’s a little bit hard sometimes to stop the doing work and actually work on the improvement stuff. But the best place to start is actually to start is actually the guard No Do you know what? I’ve had enough of working this way. I’m better I deserve better than this. I am able to create a space I’m able to create a way of working that doesn’t mean I am on the phone on the emails on the on the doing doing doing 24 seven well look we do have to sleep sometimes and maybe not 24 seven, but you understand what I’m saying, by just saying, enough is enough. Tomorrow, I am going to do 10 minutes on this process or I am going to spend an hour investigating the new system that is going to save me time, I’m going to introduce automations. I am going to template my email responses, I am going to think about a better way of working. This isn’t working. I don’t like this what I’m doing every day this whole manual yak, yak, yak, yak, yak, there’s gotta be a better way of doing it. Now, if you are struggling with how to do the things better, outsource it, you know, go and speak to a VA or I’m always here, hi, come and have a conversation with me. I love this stuff. But really, it’s about you are an expert in your field. You know what your industry does? You know what your packages are, you know how you work with your clients, and you are an expert or a fabulous person in that space. Don’t beat yourself up. If you’re not an expert in all the things, how can we be an expert in all the things we can do all the things, but we don’t need to be an expert in them. So reach out to somebody in your community who has been there and done that, ask them a few questions. How did they get started? Where did they find really made that pivot or change in their business from just maintaining to scaling, to growing to taking it up, up, up, up, up and really being able to feel amazing in the world that you read in you then start to create bad the lifestyle balance on it, that I didn’t start my business to be working all the time, I wanted to be able to create a world where it was balanced, that I could have the choices, I could be able to stop today, go out for lunch with a colleague, and then have the decision to come back and do some things later if I wanted, if I don’t have those systems in place. And those procedures in place that allow me to make things more simpler. To make things more efficient. It’s a lot harder to have those choices, because you really are working up against the grind. You’re just hitting the wall all the time. Bang, bang, bang done. Next, next, next, next, next, next. So where do I start coming back to that question, just start just tomorrow, just today, depending on what time you’re listening to this podcast, start, think about one little incremental change that you can make in your business right now. And do it. What it might be a really, really simple one is those email templates, jumping into office 365, or wherever you are, go to that template button and find those repetitive emails that you’re sending and create some templates for them. Do it today. And once you’ve done it, tag me on Instagram, tell me you’ve done it and tell me how you feel. Now you’ve done that one thing. And guess what, now you’ve done that one thing you can do more, it is now time to start to think about those small little incremental things that you can do. That’s going to bring simplicity into your world. So that is all I wanted to talk about today. I didn’t want to make this complicated. I just wanted to let you or give you the permission if you need that if you’ve been holding back, and you know that you need to make those changes, and you’re just sitting on them because it seems to be too hard. I really, really am excited to see how you take this opportunity to really look at what’s going on and make some changes simple simple ones, let me know because I want to celebrate with you because this is so exciting when you when I see people starting to move into this space of exploration and you know implementation love that word. I really do. Because Do you know what you can work with anyone in the world? But if you don’t take that information and customize it to you because obviously we’re not off the shelf fits one fits all solution here. I don’t believe in that. I think everyone really works very independently has a different view a different way different way they like to work and we’re all unique in that way. But if you have that information, you’re sitting on it, and you’re like, Oh, yeah, that was great, great knowledge, but you don’t actually implement it into your business. What was the point? What was the point of doing that other course that you’ve just done? If you’re not actually taking action? take that action today. I implore you to do that. Share it with us. Let’s celebrate add. That’s gonna be great way to start is to start that’s what I’m going to leave you with. So have a fabulous rest of your day. I would love To hear what’s going on, and enjoy creating space and time freedom by now.
